Our historic home Redhills: Durham Miners Hall is now closed for an extensive programme of restoration and renewal.

With the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Durham County Council and others, the Miners Hall will become a vibrant centre of culture, heritage and education for the Durham Coalfield area and beyond.

Redhills will be back, greater than ever, in 2023.

Welcome to the website of the Durham Miners' Association (DMA).

The DMA hosts the famous Durham Miners' Gala - the world's greatest celebration of trade union values, community spirit, and working-class culture. For more than a century, The Big Meeting was paid for by the working miners of the Durham coalfield. Today, it is funded by the Marras - the Friends of Durham Miners' Gala, founded by the DMA to secure the future of the great annual event. Please become a Marra and support the Gala here.

Since 1915, the home of the DMA has been the magnificent Redhills: Durham Miners Hall (pictured). The DMA is working to ensure that Redhills survives and thrives for generations to come as a centre for education, heritage, and culture. To find out more, please go here.

The DMA also continues to provide a range of services for its members - former Durham miners - including compensation claims, benefit information, tribunal representation and legal advice.

To keep up to date with the work of the DMA, and to support its efforts on social media, follow the Durham Miners' Association on Facebook and  Twitter.
