150 Years of the Durham Miners' Association: New Book Project

The Durham Miners’ Association was established on 20 November 1869 and next year we will be celebrating 150 years of its remarkable history of struggle.

To mark the occasion, the DMA has asked Dave Temple, author of the much acclaimed The Big Meeting – A History of The Durham Miners' Gala to produce a book recording the rich history of the DMA – its struggles, its achievements and the disasters suffered – and how it welded together a caring community, built its welfare halls, provided health care and unemployment benefit and a co-operative economy that saw the people of Durham through many hard times.

In order to cover the costs of production and judge how many copies to print, we are asking friends and supporters to pay in advance for a copy.

Everyone who does so will have their name, or that of a loved one, recorded in the book.

Soft back: £15.00 + £3.00 p&p (total £18.00)

Hard Back £19.00 + £4.00 p&p (total £23.00)

The book will be published in November 2019 and will be available in time to make a great Christmas present.
