The DMA sends the very best of birthday wishes to the great Dennis Skinner. The former coal miner is 93 years old today.
Dennis has been a great friend and supporter of the DMA, and a hugely popular figure at the Durham Miners Gala, for more than half a century
DMA Secretary Alan Mardghum said: “Dennis is a beacon of honesty, integrity and decency. In an era of distrust and cynicism, politicians of today would do well to emulate his qualities.
“Dennis is a hero of the working class and a truly great man. He never forgot where he came from and what he stood for. He commitment to his class was always unwavering.
“When he spoke, he filled you with hope and gave you a sense of direction. He remains an inspiration to many, myself included.
“If you aspire to be like anyone, aspire to be like Dennis Skinner.”
