The People's Takeaway is a radical new volunteer-led project to support families in crisis within East Durham by providing hot meals delivered to people's doors just like a normal takeaway.
The former mining community of East Durham is one of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.
East Durham Trust has delivered over 2,000 food parcels in the last 12 months. The Trust has also fed over 2,000 children as part of their Holiday Hunger provision

An inspirational trade unionist, Rodney worked tirelessly throughout his life to improve the conditions of working people. The former Unison General Secretary was a great friend to the miners, providing moral and financial support during the 1984-85 strike.
